"Be obsessed of be average!
I have the goal to understand financial statements and I´d like to share my way how to get there.
On my academic road I struggled with the mainstream knowledge I got taught year for year. Only in a small portion of the curriculum I was interesting in. In 2012 when I did my High School Degree with the focus on physics, I had the chance to learn a lot about preparing and actually also holding presentations in front of a group. The advantage I had, was that most of the topic I had to present and write about have been topics I could choose by myself.
How I found my passion – The stock market
During the year I had a lot of presentations. Physics, English and even in Math. You can count them. However, most subjects and where I found my passion by chance have been in economics. I always enjoyed to present topics most of my colleagues and even the teachers aren´t very professional in and which are not too mainstream. As the stock market was and still today is something a lot of people fear, I enjoyed reading and studying about it.
It´s all about convincing – “To sell is human”
Based on the book “To sell is human” by Daniel H. Pink, I learned life is all about persuasion. During my university time to become an economic engineer with the major “International Project Management” I had the chance to convince my professor back in Germany to study one year abroad. That´s where I had the chance to enroll in “Fundamentals of Finance” at California State University of Fullerton. Finding the passion with 24 years and the beginning of my year abroad was amazing. After transferring to San Diego State University for another semester I enrolled in more financial classes to learn more about the markets.
My goal – Understanding financial statements
The first book I read about the stock market was in 2009 where I immediately started to take notes about financial instruments and the markets in general. Briefly we touched during my studies into IFRS and GAAP standards, where I today see my goal.
Learning to read and understand the financial statements of a company.
Let´s be realistic and for sure no one ever from outsite of the company you are looking into, will be able to understand what really is reported by a company. Too many complex transactions are happening which just will not been displayed. But a common sense and understanding the financial statements over a longer period of time will for sure give a great picture about the financial wellbeing or the problems of a company.
Stay up to date!
Let´s be realistic –
